Academic Partners

An alliance to better represent our world
This partnership will work to change the academic landscape within the next five to ten years by increasing the number of Indigenous and Black engineering professors teaching and researching in universities across Canada.

This academic partnership, which began with the engineering and math faculties at the University of Waterloo, and the engineering faculties at McMaster University, the University of Ottawa, the University of Toronto, Queen’s University and Western University, has expanded to include 16 institutions. Recently, the University of Alberta, the University of British Columbia, the Schulich School of Engineering (University of Calgary), the University of Manitoba, McGill University, Ontario Tech, Toronto Metropolitan University, the University of Windsor, and the Lassonde School of Engineering (York University) have joined the partnership.

Working together to build a mentor network and offer IBET Momentum Fellowships for funding support, each partner university will tailor their structure and features to support the IBET student experience at their institution.
