Isabel Higgon

IBET Momentum Fellow at Western University

Isabel is a member of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation and was raised in London, Ontario.

She has been part of the Western University community since high school, when she began taking university courses through Western’s WISE Program. She completed her undergraduate degrees in Software Engineering, Astrophysics, and Japanese Studies at Western and is now pursuing her PhD in Software Engineering.

Her research interests bring together software, machine learning, image processing, and space science. She is particularly interested in exploring how computational methods can be used to find patterns and extract information from astronomical and space-related data.

Outside of academics, Isabel enjoys ceramics, beading, spending time in nature, and just about anything that lets her create with her hands. Curious by nature, she is usually learning a new skill, experimenting with a new medium, or dreaming up her next project. Her curiosity extends beyond the classroom, shaping the way she approaches new ideas, experiences, and creative challenges.
