Mary was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario, and is a member of the Métis Nation of Ontario. She is pursuing her PhD in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at Queen’s University, where she also earned her master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
She completed her undergraduate degree in Materials Engineering at McMaster University, where she spent summers as a research intern with the computational materials group.
Mary is returning to her studies after several years in industry: from managing a laboratory at the National Research Council in Ottawa, to design-for-reliability with a California EV start-up, to process engineering in manufacturing, Mary’s experience at the intersections of science, technology and engineering has bolstered her passion for materials science in engineering, particularly as it applies to opportunities in materials manufacturing and processing.
While not at work, Mary can be found at play on the ice or on the field/court, often next to her unfailing defensive partner and husband, Peyman.
